Our purpose

We want to see a fundamental difference in the way our society supports young people and families to enable them to proactively manage their mental health and thrive.

Our objective

To work with young people and the parents and teachers who form the support network around them, to take practical action to boost and maintain positive mental health and better prepare young people for success in the 21st century work environment. This is resilience in action.

The risk factors faced by our children and their future

  • 1 in 3 children in every classroom suffer from a diagnosable mental health disorder.
  • The 15-24 age group show the highest rates of self harm.
  • 1 in 3 parents report being burnt out often or all the time
  • 1/3 of children living in families with the least healthy functioning, have a mental health disorder

Working in partnership with 4 secondary schools, our evidence-based programme gives the school community a common language and set of skills to build resilience and enable people to talk about their emotions without feeling vulnerable.

Project reach: 264 students , parents and teachers

Face-to-face facilitation from resilience experts

  • Resilient Young Leader: 8 x 2hr weekly sessions designed for students and teachers
  • Resilient Parents: 5 x 2hr weekly sessions designed for parents.

Blended approach

  • Student "themed" sessions designed to embed the skills around current challenges faced by young people.
  • 1:1 additional support for those students identified as needing further support.

Employability focus

  • Chartered Management Institute recognised. Enabling students to be awarded a recognised qualification recognised in the workplace.

We've already worked with 2 secondary schools so far and our programme produces community changing results:

  • 100% of students and parents & 80% of teachers reported an increased ability to deal with pressure and stress after the programme.
  • Anxiety levels reduced across all support networks post programme.
  • Significant post programme increases in ability to manage conflict, difficult relationships, effective communication, decision making and critical thinking.
  • All support networks saw a direct link between the skills and mental health and wellbeing.

A comprehensive school case study showing more details of the difference made is available on request.
