DECA Internationals

     DECA, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) not-for profit international business organization that prepares students to be leaders in the fields of marketing, entrepreneurship, finance, hospitality, fashion, merchandising, accounting, business law, and travel & tourism.  The high school division includes over 185,000 members in 5,000 schools.  The collegiate division includes over 15,000 members in 200 colleges and universities.  Membership spans across the United States as well as Canada, China, Germany, Guam, Hong Kong, Korea, Mexico, and Puerto Rico.

     Forty-seven EAHS students participated in the DECA District 7 Competition this past December in Jim Thorpe, PA.  The competition helps develop problem-solving skills in the form of written tests and role-play situations focusing on several areas of business.  Thirty-nine of these forty-seven members qualified for the 62^nd Annual PA DECA State Career Development Conference at the Hershey Lodge in February.  Four of our chapter officers; Juan Sanchez, Giovanny Zapata, and Caitlin McCreery, and myself Miranda Alvarez will be attending the International Career Development Conference in Anaheim, California. 

         It is my first year with the opportunity to attend the International DECA conferece and am truly looking forward to the event.  I hope to extend my DECA experience and involvement through the trip.  As well as learn more about leadership and business careers. The trip is rather costly and  myself or my chapter could not cover the trips cost completely, although with your help I'm still hopeful that I will able to attend.  Any donations big and small are welcome and greatly appreciated.
