David Cyster is a 2nd year BMus student at Stellensbosch University, South Africa. He started clarinet lessons at the age of 6 years old and a year later he started with piano. He is the first clarinetist of the Cape Town Philharmonic Youth Orchestra. He has taken part in the 2020 online New Talent British International Youth Music Competition and received the gold award. In previous years, he has participated in the National Youth Music Competition in 2017 and 2019, entering the final round and receiving the ‘Leon Hartshorne Prize’ for the best wind instrumentalist and the Category prize for the Wind instrument section in 2017; in 2019, he received the Masote Prize for best woodwind.

Here you can find performances of David playing on YouTube:

https://youtu.be/f8nhLbyU9nc (Playing Artie Shaw Clarinet concerto with the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra.)

https://youtu.be/CxLdrtEhM14 (Playing his competition Repertoire for the New Talent British International Youth Music Competition.)

It is his dream to share his love and passion for music and to, one day, become a professional musician. His current instruments have been alongside him for many years, but the age of his instruments is catching up and repairing them can only do so much for its life span. It is much appreciated if you could donate to help fund for a set of Yamaha instruments.

In order to replace David's instruments he will to need procure R300k.
