Campaign Story
Data Drive for international Electrical Engineering Students at UCT
The past couple of weeks have proven to be a very huge challenge for all students. The Covid 19 pandemic resulted in the physical closing of universities and the implementation of online learning.
This resulted in a cry for data as online learning meant constant interaction with online resources. The University of Cape Town was successful in providing data to most local students as well as laptops to those in need. Moreover, they implemented a "zero rating" to certain UCT sites including but not limited to Vula (which is the centre of UCT learning).
However, the provisions made by the university unfortunately only benefited local students. This has left a total of 23+ students in the Electrical Engineering department without access to vital online resources. Without data they can no longer engage with the curriculum.
For the benefit of these students we therefore plan to open a data donation scheme, whereby we aim to provide at least 10GB per student. This data will be sufficient for each student to continue their studies. As a student populace we are in this together, and our fellow students' future hangs in the balance. Any contribution you are able to make will be greatly appreciated and will be used towards this cause. Your support will not go unnoticed.

Learning online, social media and a video/ movie or three is what every student *needs* so there needs to enough data for everyone.
