Short Summary

Anyone who has played high school football  would love the opportunity to suit up and do it again. My fundraising idea plays off of this desire to bring about a completely new fund raising event that does not rely on the door to door skills of teenage athletes.

The idea is simple. One annual football game that lets alumni and other able bodied guys play in a full contact game for their high school. The requirement is that they have a strong affiliation with the football program.

Money would be made by entry fees, ticket sales and concession stands. There would also be potential for merchandise sales as well.

I don’t know a single person who played with me in high school who would not pay a reasonable fee for the opportunity to play again. There is a stereotype of old high school football players that they live in the past. I'm not sure it is exactly that way for most, but they at least long for a chance to relive those days.

 

 

Introduction

The event is a simple idea that has the potential to generate a lot of money for football programs.

The income potential comes from three main sources.

             *Entry Fees for players

             *Ticket Sales

             *Concession Sales

 

Needs from Football Programs

In order to pull this thing off, there are some needs we would have.

• Use of the Football Field/Stadium
• Volunteers to work concessions/ref/announce/etc.
• Rental of helmets and shoulder/leg pads for event day

Objectives

• Raise as much money as possible for the Football Program
• Raise pride and dedication to the Football Program
• Stop relying on players door to door skills for fundraising!

 

 

Procedures

Announcement/Sign Ups

There will be an announcement when we decide on a date/time for the Fundraiser Bowl to take place. At that time we will have players sign up online for spots on the teams. We can put a limit the number of players, giving people more incentive to sign up as soon as possible.

 

Players will provide roster information and top three positions they want to play as part of their sign up information.

 

Players will have to pay in advance an agreed upon amount for the entry fee.

 

This entry fee will also cover equipment rental, jersey costs and a team photo. Local businesses and donors of any kind should be given the opportunity to sponsor an athlete for the big game as well. In the announcements, there will be information on how to do that.

 

Organizing/Planning

Once players are signed up and all slots are taken, the players should be divided into Orange team and Blue team. The players can be notified by email what team they are on, along with the roster from there team. At this time they can be encouraged to find time to practice together in the couple weeks leading up to the game.

 

In this phase we will also be finding volunteers to referee, announce, run tickets and concessions etc. If any kind of merchandise would be desired for sales at the event, this would be the time to get it ordered.

 

 

Prep/Game Time

On the day of the game, athletes register where they are sized for equipment and receive their Jerseys and pants. Mouthpieces and cleats will not be provided. At this time athletes will also sign their medical waivers.
