Imagine being a migrant, for the last 8 years, leaving your home in the hopes of being able to create a better life for your family, a wife and 3 children all under the age of 10 years old.
Master , was one such person. A man who wanted to create a different and better future for his family, which meant making huge sacrifices, leaving them back home in Malawi and coming to South Africa seeking work. He worked 6 and sometimes 7 days a week, and despite his circumstances remained cheerful, kind and giving.
On 29 August 2018, his brothers who also came to Cape Town, South Africa to create a different future for their families, woke up to find Master very ill, having seizures. They were able to call and ambulance and get him to the hospital. By the time they got Master to the hospital he had died. It is still not clear what happened to this fine man who made a contribution wherever he went through his being.
His family are in dire need of support, both immediately to deal with funeral arrangements (by 14 September), and in the medium term to provide a bridge for them to cope and slowly begin to move forward.
There are so many stories like this... what makes this different. If you are reading this, then it makes it is that which makes this different. An opportunity to change the course this family's life has suddenly taken.
