I had an emotional breakdown at the beginning of 2017. As a result I had to resign from my job in order to recover.
When I went back on the job market in April 2017, I found it difficult to get employed due to my debt record. About 80% of the employers in my field are financial institutions who refuse to employ people with excessive debt, even if their professional ethics are in excellent standing.
In the middle of July, my savings ran out. As of writing this, I am two months behind in debt repayments, rent payments and school fees for my daughter. Today(31 August 2017) my landlord issued me with 1 months notice to vacate the premises. At this point I do not have the funds to pay back rent or put up a deposit on a new place.
We have pawned everything of value, and borrowed excessively from family to make it through until now. But our extended families are financially stressed themselves and cannot support us any further.
I am the sole provider for my family as my wife has an autoimmune disease that prevents her from maintaining a full time job.
I want to get back to work and get back on my feet and I'm looking for a hand up, not a hand out.
