Campaign Story
The Widows Gift has been coordinating a regular monthly support group for widows since february 2019 and have been working closely with the women to support them during the coronavirus pandemic.
Last week we were able to provide hand sanitizers and basic food items. Howevet, with lockdown and potential food shortages we need to extend our emergency support by Monday when the Kenyan government plan to implement lockdown measures.
We are apppealing for £5 seed packs for our 13 widowed families to mitigate food insecurity as a result of covid-19. Each pack will consist of 2kg of seeds to grow peas, carrots, beans and chillies to establish a kitchen garden and a readilly available source of food in months to come.
A further £10 will ensure that each widow has enough staple foods and immune boosting ingredients during their 14 day isolation period next week.

ongoing covid-19 widows support
Update posted by Hannah Wallis at 12:45 pmWith the pandemic continuing to increase food insecurity amongst vulnerable communities we will be providing ongoing monthly food rations until our regular widows lunch can resume.At present our regular donors who sponsor our monthly lunch are instead supplying 5kg of ugali (maize meal) to our widowed households as a basic. . . . .
