Campaign Story
mbora is a self-funded startup social enterprise founded by Adrian Raisbeck, who's mission is to offer rural communities an alternative approach to sustainable development in Malawi and the region.
Covid-19 intervened just as mbora was building and launching its first project in Malawi. The mbora team was left with little choice but to swing into action with what little resources they have.
mbora has been using its social enterprise platform and cutting edge tech to protect very vulnerable but crucially important farming and fishing communities from Covid-19 on Lake Malawi's SE shoreline. It's programme is focused on creating awareness and understanding aimed at changing behaviours. Conducted within the mbora Hub, hosted by the nurse, and, through trained local women mounting an outreach programme direct to households.
Any money raised will be spent on: expanding and extending the life of the awareness and outreach campaigns, by recruiting more nurses and outreach workers (the more we raise the further north we can extend our programmes to other villages); locally tailoring face masks ($1 each); and, implementing hand wash stations ($50 each) across 8 x villages.

Good to see this project happening mate. We are watching it with great interest as it develops. Rural communities are so often left to fend for themselves and the need for inclusion and support especially in Malawi will make a huge difference. Great job !

Adrian, a crisis always provides opportunity. What better way to introduce your dream of developing Mbora than the pandemic of Covid-19.
