COVID-19 Help buy essentials for poor communities

The COVID-19 epidemic has spread to most countries in the world. However, the epidemic has not only affected sick people but also communities that are on the verge of survival due to the lockout.

Background

About 45% of Sri Lanka’s population lives on less than $ 5 a day. The impact of the Civil War, the new mass unemployment, is what causes a significant section of the population to be in extreme poverty.

The situation with COVID-19 and locking

The epidemic has particularly affected people living in poverty. They are locked up, have no life resources, no money, no food. COVID-19 has affected poor families, ordinary workers, people with no savings, and people with chronic diseases. This is why people who cannot afford basic things for survival need urgent help. Without our help, vulnerable communities may actually die.

How can we help you

Thamarai Media along with some other organizations in Sri Lanka will provide family ration packages. Rice, lentils, and soy in each pack are essential ingredients for survival in these dangerous situations.

We will use our companies ’data to identify which families really need help and create an emergency help list. Based on this list, Tamil, WORLDWIDE HELP partners, and volunteers will deliver packages to those in need.

Our team has long been involved in providing charitable assistance. It contains information about the best products and the lowest prices to buy. With wholesale purchases, we can use the funds rationally and help the most important number of families.

Who we are

We are a team of motivated, open-minded, experts in various fields, volunteers who live in this country, and the local people here. We have come together to help those who can no longer trust their support in these difficult times.

Campaign management

The management of the rescue team is led by the Tamil WO, who also coordinates this Gofundme campaign. The group consists of volunteers from various parts of Sri Lanka and partner non-profit employees.

Funds raised through this campaign will be credited to the Tamil WO for distributing aid to vulnerable families. Our campaign has three stages:

1) In the first stage, after receiving the funds, the final purchase plan will be calculated.

2) In the second stage, the products for the family ration packs are urgently purchased.

3) In the third phase, direct assistance will be provided to vulnerable communities.
