Campaign Story
Update: We were told on August 12th that we had to be out by the 14th now. Taking away any hope to stay the rest of the month.
We all have places temporarily after moving everything out on the 13th. We’ve already raised enough to help with the security deposit on a new place! But we will still need first and last months rent and other equipment and stuff. Thank you so much to all those who have reached out and supported us, by either donating, or helping out with trades! We love you all and are so appreciative
We were all told recently that our boss wanted to close down shop and leave all 10 of the tattoo artists working under her to fend for ourselves. And we were only given till August 21st (two weeks from being told) to get out of our space and "move on". We are all rightfully pissed but agreed we would move forward together. After a lot of hassle we finally convinced our ex-boss to give us to the end of the month before we have to find a new place to work. Instead of making everyone compete for the few spots left in Asheville, we are moving together to a new space and starting our own business. We are tired of all the money grabbing bosses, who are the norm in Asheville tattoo shops. This will be different. We are opening a tattoo collective. It will be run, owned and operated by the artists. We will finally be able to keep all of our own income, and split all costs equally between us.
Please consider donating what you can, even $1, and telling your friends to help. We have till August 31st to pay any fees relating to renting a new space, as well and buying all new furniture and equipment. As well as all the fees related to business licenses and insurance, etc. Starting a business is pricey, and as we try to find a business loan, we would truly appreciate any help we can get.
Contact me at [email protected] if you have any business, legal, moving, or renovation related skills that you would be willing to trade for tattoos. We'll need all the help we can get to avoid loosing our livelihoods.
Coven Collective will be a non-binary and queer owned shop in Asheville, NC. Our focus is on equity and inclusivity. We are artist run and operated. Creating a safe space for our clients and tattoo artists to express themselves as they see fit with no judgement. We look forward to seeing all of your beautiful faces in our new space!

End of Fundraising
Update posted by Kaia Rubin at 09:23 pmThank you so much to everyone that donated. We weren't able to secure a location or funding for a Coven Collective location, but we have all found places to work for now. Maybe one day in the future the Collective can still be possible, but for now we thank you
