Thank you for taking time out of your day to consider making a donation to our cause. We provide at-risk boys a chance to play high exposure basketball tournaments. They will have an opportunity to show their skills to coaches in order to have access to a stage they normally would not be able to afford. Your grassroots donation will get us started.  We will gladly accept any general donation you feel you can provide.  The Mission:      To provide at-risk kids the chance to showcase their talent in front of people that normally would not get to see these athletes due to the players’ inability to pay for the expenses of travel basketball. We put a heavy emphasis on the character aspect of the game, because if the players do not learn how to be pro socially productive citizens then what we do will not provide the community a service as a non-profit organization. "We think sometimes that poverty is only being hungry, naked and homeless. The poverty of being unwanted, unloved and uncared for is the greatest poverty. We must start in our own homes to remedy this kind of poverty." - Mother Teresa About Coop Basketball The founder of Coop Basketball AAU, Chris Powers, is a High School Science Teacher in the Rock Hill School District in Rock Hill, SC. Teaching at an alternative high school, Chris encounters students that are currently having an out of school experience from their traditional high schools usually due to behavioral issues. The poverty level of some of the students is sometimes extreme to moderate. As a result, Chris has taken his 35 years of basketball playing and coaching experience and started an afterschool basketball program in cooperation with the Boys and Girls Clubs Teen Center. The players wanted to play in competitive tournaments, but Chris did not have the financial backing to help the Boys and Girls Club help these talented athletes with the costs associated with playing travel basketball. Chris feels this is an altruistic venture, but also feels that he gets more in return more often than not.
