Campaign Story
I am a year 10 Pupil at St Wilfrids Catholic High School and Sixth Form College and I am fundraising in order to raise money towards my once in a lifetime consevation expedition trip to South Africa in Summer of 2014 with Operation Wallacea.
For the first week, I will be staying in the amazing Kruger National Park, conducting various vital surveys on the local ecology and other conservation based serveys (Bird point counts and Elephant impact surveys) as well as researching conservation in the local areas. During the first week (bush week), I will be focusing particually on Elephants and Bird species/populations. I will spend half of my time in the bush, either in game view vehicles or on foot with armed guards, and half of my time in large fenced camps learning about bush skills and having lectures on Savannah ecology: Africa's Biodiversity, Southern Africa's birds, Herbivores of Southern Africa, managing Elephant population, African concervation issues and a concervation synthesis.
Then for the second week (Marine week), I will be travelling down to the beautiful coast of Sodwana Bay where I will be completing an Indian Ocean reef ecology course consisting of lectures and in water practicles either by diving or snorkelling. I will also be completing/achieving a full PADI open water course.
I am aiming to raise £2700 which will cover all of my trip expenses; however any amount I am able to raise and any donation received, no matter how small, will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
