My name is Benjamin Loveday, I am a first year University student who has been accepted by Global Vision International to volunteer abroad in the Fiji Islands. I am trying to raise funds to be able to cover the costs of travel to Fiji from Toronto and assist with the program fee which runs from July 9th until July 23rd. In sponsoring me you are contributing to helping me achieve my goal of assisting in the Development and Re-development of the Dawasamu community witch has recently suffered terrible damage due to Cyclone Winston as you may already be aware.
What I will be doing:
I will be helping community members to implement important livelihood strategies and protect the environment for future generations in the traditional coastal villages of the Dawasamu District of Fiji. Assist with key infrastructure construction projects, set up community based income-generation initiatives, volunteer in local kindergartens and schools, and work on studies that inform important environmental management decisions on this exciting and varied expedition project. My main volunteer duties will include:
-Working with Children
GVI has over 150 volunteer projects in 25 countries and sends over 2,000 volunteers abroad, every year. All GVI’s projects have objectives geared towards achieving the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, which build upon the Millennium Development Goals.
