Climbing for a Cause
In 2003, I read the book Into Thin Air, by Jon Krakauer. Since then I have had an insatiable appetite for adventure. I suppose each and every person does deep down inside. This resonating search for adventure is a barbaric instinct of sorts for us human beings. I have four wheeled, rock climbed, swam, hunted, ran, ballooned, flown, kayaked, raced, and learned through my short 25 year life. In 2006, I joined the U.S. Navy serving overseas in several countries allowing me to be exposed to many different types of cultures and people. Last year I attempted the 72 mile South Dakota Kayak Challenge and placed 13th out of 120 racers! With your support this year I would like to take on a new challenge.
My brother and I are attempting to summit our first ever 14er in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The 14er we plan on summiting is Mount Williamson at 14,380ft. There is just one problem with our plan. We are short on funds for us to reach the summit. We are requesting that you contribute any funds you can for our cause.
We are climbing for adventure and for charity. Any funds raised that are not used for the summit will be contributed to the USO and Honor Flight Network. Both are charitable organizations assisting current or former servicemen, women, and their families. Anything you can contribute will be helpful! Depending on the success of this summit will determine whether other future mountains are attempted so please contribute. Thanks to all of you for your support!
