My mum was removed from the UK and deported to Jamaica on Sunday 03/12/2017. She was hastily deported giving us little time to prepare or put up a defense. At least she wasn't detained for 3 months like back 2015, she was only in detention for about a week and a half this time.
She was sent back without proper consultation or preparation with her family here in the UK or extended family in Jamaica, they sent her down without her diabetes medication which she needs to stop her from getting sick, she also missed a scheduled eye surgery she had been waiting on for months, she has failing eyesight and can hardly see.
As a result of the strain of the intense immigration process to regularize her stay in the UK over the 12 years she's lived and worked in the UK, she has developed mental health problems, she suffers from PTSD, as a result of being bullied and assaulted while locked up in Yarl's Wood Immigration Removal Centre in 2015, Yarl's Wood Immigration Removal Centre has been in the media spotlight for human-rights abuses, she now walks with a limp. She also suffer from Severe anxiety, depression, panic attacks, insomnia, high blood pressure and all the other direct and indirect symptoms of mental illness.
The fund is to help her sort out immediate accommodation, because she is sofa surfing in Jamaica to get a night's rest. Re-order her diabetes medications, because the last batch we Fedex down to her in Jamaica will only last for 2 months. To challenge the Home Office decision and successfully re-unite her with her family here in the UK.
