Circle The Continent

Hi there. I'm Shannon. My friend Tommy and I plan to set off next April from the DC area, and take a circuitous trip around this great country of ours (and beyond[?]). I, for one, have seen very little of North America beyond bits and pieces of the east coast, but I'm eager to change that. Only problem is, we have no money. But we're working on that.

Let me be clear, I'm not waiting for or relying on donations to fund the trip: it would just really, really, really help if we got a couple. As much for moral support as financial. I know that there are more important things out there to donate to, and I really don't expect anyone to help us out beyond a few dollars--but any amount is much appreciated. Any donations or even words of encouragement will be gratefully acknowledged over on our travel blog [link to come], where I'll keep track of our adventures through photos and random ramblings. So, you know, like every other travel blog.

Here's a list so far of what I'm most eager to see:

*Chicago. Just, all of it.

*The Trans-Canada Highway. Or rather, the view from it.

*A buffalo.

*A temperate rainforest/redwood trees.

*The Pacific Ocean.

*The Winchester Mystery House in San Jose.

*Death Valley/desert in general.

*Austin (is it really that weird?).

*New Orleans, especially the historic districts and anything with Spanish moss growing all over it. Basically, I want to walk into Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.

I know it seems that I've left out some fairly major parts of the East Coast, mostly because I've already been to DC and NYC and Carolina/Florida beaches and the Everglades. But I certainly wouldn't mind revisiting them. I'd also love any suggestions from y'all.
