It has been an ambition of mine to be involved with humanitarian aide, in a practical way, for some time now. While it has been a desire to help those less fortunate than myself, I have never been in a position to do so until now.
The plight of so many people who have been force to flee their homeland and everything that they know for fear of their lives is something that has moved me to want to give them some reassurance and respite. I feel that with my health and a supportive network of friends and family behind me there is nothing to prevent me from doing some good for the benefit of others that are not as lucky.
This is where I hope you come in…
To enable me to volunteer my time I need funding to cover very basic living expenses, approximately £14.40 per day.
My aim to to gain donations through “GoGetFunding”, a website created to make it easy for people to contribute to charity projects. The goal is to raise £300 to allow me to work over the holiday period for 3 weeks. (In a time when most people will be with the ones they love and these displaced people will feel more vulnerable than ever).
I am truly grateful for the opportunities that i have been offered so far in my life and want to be able to help, house, feed and shelter the refugees that are trying to find a safer life. The “Jungle” camp is Calais is where I will work for an organisation called CALAID who are under the auspices of Prism the Gift Fund (charity number 1099682). My jobs will include sorting and distributing donations and food to the community living in the “Jungle”.
Any assistance you can give will be hugely appreciated and will go towards improving the living conditions of many desperate people.
