Chloe’s Nepal Volunteering Adventure!

Hey there!

Due to everything going on with the Coronavirus Pandemic, and for the fact, that I couldn't afford it, I had to withdraw from college. Even though I'm devastated, because I wanted to start my journey to higher education. I can't let this golden opportunity pass me by! So why not truly find myself and find my place in the world, than volunteering in Nepal!

I've always known that I have wanted to help people, I just didn't know when or how. Until I saw the 'Plan My Gap Year' ad online, and I clicked on the ad out of pure curiosity. When I was browsing the site, I saw the 'Nepal English Teaching to Monks' trip for 2-20 weeks. As I was reading through the info for the project, my gut was telling me to follow my heart. And the next thing I know, I applied for volunteering 12 weeks in the program, and I got in! You must be thinking, "You don't even have a degree in teaching, let alone teaching English, so how are you going to successfully teach the Monks in Nepal?", well, as I applied, I bought the 60 hour Online TEFL Course. Once I complete the course, I'll not only have the acquired keys for teaching English Abroad, but also an internationally accredited certificate.

Here is some extra information:

I'll either be staying at the Chitwan Monastery, Kwung Gumba Monastery, or the Duanne Monastery. Monday-Friday, I will be teaching 3-5 hours a day to a classroom of 10-15 Monks. Since I have free time on Saturdays and Sundays, I will be able to really immerse myself in the Culture of Nepal. The money raised, will be put towards my program fee, as well as my airfare there and back.

Each person who volunteers generates a donation which goes directly towards these projects to help people across the globe.
