David Sheffe died on May 9, 2018 and the world for so many changed forever.

David was the beloved son of Michael and Lillian who had the joy of watching him grow over 43 years from a precocious child to a loving husband, father and friend to so many.

David was the trusted brother to Karyn, and the fiercely protective uncle to Dylan and Zoe.

David was the loving husband of Heather Drew Sheffe who lost the love of her life and the father of Ella and Marlowe. These little girls, ages 6 and 3, will never know the extent to which David can enrich the life of those he touches. They will have memories but those are limited and fade over the years to mere glimpses of times and places, smiles and hugs.

To me, his brother only in law, David was my closest friend and confidant. For me, and more often for my family, he was my rock and my role model.

It would not be fair to say that David 'worked' at Camp Manitou because that would diminish his contribution. David dedicated himself to Camp Manitou, its Campers, Staff and Directors. For months at a time, he did little else than put the needs of so many ahead of his own. This was not a job to David but a calling. It was a way of life.

He was also a new business owner, having opened The Manitouwabing Outpost with Heather in 2017.

David was in the process of opening both the Camp and the Outpost when he passed away so suddenly.

David died far too young. He has left behind a family that must move forward in his absence, without the financial security offered by his sheer determination and dogged work ethic. With David alive, his family would want for nothing. In his absence, they will need the love and support of his friends and community.

David knew so many people. Everyone has a story about how David intersected with their life. The common theme in these stories is the attention that David gave to those who needed him, his unrelenting desire to help, and his constant need to better the lives of those around him, usually at the sake of his own health.

I am asking everyone who knew him and respected him to support this campaign. David wanted his children to go to University. He believed that their education was very important. The proceeds of this campaign will ensure that Ella and Marlowe can go to University and become the young women that David always wanted for them. Above all else, David would want his kids to have the same life that he was building for them before he left us too soon.

The proceeds of this campaign will be used to fund the Sheffe Children Family Trust.

I thank you. David's family thanks you, Heather, Ella and Marlowe thank you.

David - we will forever miss you...
