Child Abuse Prevention Education Funding

Child safety has become a large focus in the world today, particularly in schools. Did you know that nearly 5 children are dying each day due to child abuse and neglect in the United States? Every year, 3.3 million reports of child abuse are made in the United States involving nearly 6 million children. A report of child abuse is made every 10 seconds.

I am running this fundraiser to donate money to Childhelp's Speak Up Be Safe Program. Childhelp is a non-profit organization meeting the physical, emotional, educational and spiritual needs of abused, neglected and at risk children through advocacy, prevention, treatment and community outreach.

Childhelp Speak Up Be Safe is a newly developed, school-based, child abuse prevention education program that focuses on child safety. The model for Speak Up Be Safe is based on several areas of research including child development, learning styles, social psychology, and child abuse and neglect prevention. It is written to promote broad student participation and critical reflection by engaging children participants in visual, auditory, and physical learning.

The cost for schools to impliment this program can be difficult to obtain, but in my opinion, no monetary value is greater than a childs life. It is my goal to provide two school districts with this educational program for their students. I feel that together, we can make a difference and in this case, together we can save lives!
