In the past year, The Chicago Light Brigade has provided creative direct action resources and organizing assistance to grassroots organizations around the city, and built events and spaces that have amplified the voices of those most affected by inequality in our city. Our intergenerational network of activists also successfully ran a campaign to force the Chicago Public School system to remedy hazardous conditions at Gale Elementary School - forcing the board of education to invest hundreds of thousands of dollars in an impoverished community whose children it had chosen to leave behind. This not only helped the children at Gale, but also provided a potential blueprint of resistance to parents and community members around the city who are fighting back against Rahm Emanuel's service slashing policies.
We have provided radical arts and education and non violent direct action training for children and young adults in Chicago, exposed the endangerment of our community's children, and pushed back against the criminalization of youth of color. We have even bigger plans for 2015, but we need your help. Please join us as we continue to bring creative resources to communities who are resisting oppression and inequality in our city. We are committed to the cause, and with your support, we will deliver.
