Chemotherapy Treatment for 6 year old Carlyle

Hello, my name is Vanessa Satuita of Cebu Province, Philippines. I am a mother to my wonderful 6 year old son named Carlyle Regulus, born April 26, 2015. Carlyle was diagnosed last August 11, 2020 with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL B- CELL TYPE) in Cebu City's Chung Hua Hospital. A type of cancer of the blood and bone marrow which mainly afflicts children. Despite its enfeebling effects, this disease has a HIGH CURE rate which means that there is an increased possibility for survival in children. But survival alone depends on being able to afford all the treatments. And as any mother, I wish badly for my son to survive and grow up to be a fine adult. But if left untreated, this disease can be fatal. Sadly, our family does not have the financial ability to afford my son a chance, and here I am now humbly asking for your help.

Carlyle's father and I worked to provide for our simple life before Covid-19, but we have since lost our jobs due to the pandemic circumstances. Now I am required to care for my son 24/7 while his father continues to find any work.

I would like to thank our families and friends, good samaritans who have donated and loaned us money to start treatment.

Treatment usually includes prompt and intensive chemotherapy.

Carlyle's first dose of chemotherapy was given immediately after his diagnosis last August 2020. To treat this type of cancer, his attending Hematologist-oncologist prescribed a treatment protocol that will last for at least 3 years. If only my son would not endure more than this treatment, but due to his sensitive condition, fevers, seizures, infections, and blood transfusions often arise. Our financial responsibility has become a mountain. This brings me to plead for your help in any small amount you can contribute for our expenses listed below.

Expenses in Philippine Peso:

Monthly doctor's fee: p2,000

Every 4 months is bone marrow aspiration and Intrathecal: p8,000

Complete blood count expenses every 3rd week of the month: p500.00

Blood transfusion (packed red blood cells and platelet Apheresis if blood counts are low)

Platelet transfusion: p20,000

Red blood cell transfusion: p10,000

If admitted due to fever/seizure/infection

Admission fee: p2,500-p3,000 room per day.

Medicine if admitted: p35,000 estimated cost.

Discharged hospital bill: p80k-90k estimated cost for 1 week admission.

Since Carlyle's diagnosis 9 months ago we have paid roughly $12,000 of our financial responsibility, mostly from loans and donations. We have 2 years and 3 months of treatment to go. But I worry every minute where I can find the funds to pay for our emergency hospital visit now and when this happens again, because sadly it will.

As his mother, it really breaks my heart to see my son fight this battle. At times I am sad, angry and feel defeated. But I will never give up fighting with him. I thank you for your time, your prayers, for sharing Carlyle's story, for your kindness.
