Today I call upon all Americans, to help support Flint amidst their Water Crisis.
I have created this campaign to raise funds needed to purchase as much bottled water as possible and have it delivered to Flint. Our goal is to raise enough money to get a a full truck load of water, for those not familiar with logistics that means an entire 53' semi truck filled with cases of water.
Boxed Water, an eco-friendly and Grand Rapids, MI based water company has informally agreed to match our funds, as they have already done with other companies. That means for every $1 you give here, we actually donate $2. When we reach this goal which I plan to reach by the end of March, we will have enough funds to purchase and transport a truckload of bottled water. After Boxed Water matches our funds that will be two entire semi trucks filled with water. How much water is that exactly? Two truckloads can carry 54 pallets with 60 cases of water on each pallet and 24 half liter bottles in each case. For math geeks like myself that equates to: 77,760 bottles of water (24 x 54 x 60.) Every single dollar raised here will go towards purchasing the water and covering the cost of transit.
Flint desperately needs help which is why I wish to reach this goal by March 31st. We are the richest country in the world with the largest source of fresh water in the world, and this should have never happened. But it did. And it is up to us, fellow neighbors of Flint, MI to help out and show that we have not forgotten our own people.
Depending on the volume of water we are able to purchase we will either deliver it to the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan or the Catholic Charities Center for hope. Distribution will be coordinated through Britney a volunteer United Way Funds coordinator and myself as well as some of my friends, family, and co-workers will be on site distributing the water directly to homes in Flint. If you are interested in helping distribute please comment on this link or on my facebook profile and I will send you my contact info. The more the merrier!
I am so thankful to have the opportunity to work alongside so many great people who are generous and passionate about helping others and have decided to support my cause. Please be that person who lends a hand, every single penny will be appreciated by the families of Flint who have not had access to safe drinking water for almost 2 years. It's not enough to pity or empathize with this community, we need to give, we have to give. And I am grateful you have decided to give. Thank you.
