Campaign Story
Charity providing employment & training opportunities for young people and adults with autism
CareTrade strives to improve the life chances of school leavers and adults with autism by creating inspirational and sustainable opportunities that will help them achieve their potential and be as independent as possible.
Why the community needs us
We are currently running two projects aimed at preparing and supporting young people with autism into employment. The Autism Project is a full time course which aims to help young adults with autism prepare for employment by offering work experience placements in a supportive environment at Guy's & St. Thomas' Hospitals. Employment Opportunities is a part-time job-finding programme that aims to support adults with autism who are already "work ready" into the jobs they want to do, and beyond.
Our impact on the community
In our first 5 years we have supported over 90 individuals from 14 boroughs and have developed four leading employment focused projects.- All participants report increased self-confidence- 92% of graduates from The Autism Project @GSTT are work ready- 57% of those on Employment Opportunities gain paid employment or a paid apprenticeship within 6 months- 2 have remained in the same position for over 4 years now.
