Campaign Story
Hi, I'm a senior whose sole income is social security, a challenging amount on which to live. Unfortunately, after taking my pain prescription and working on bills, I mistakenly paid two bills twice that threw my budget and checking account into a tizzy!!! My pressing needs are to get my checking account out of the red and stop the “bounces,” get enough money for gas and lunch for an upcoming job interview in another town/city about 2 hours away, pay my overdue electric February bill of $445.72 (I managed to pay my January electric bill of $539.47), and pay medical and other bills.
For many years when I worked, I helped others liberally with finances and free clothing, furniture, food, and professional services – all of which gave me great joy in doing so. But the unexpected end of my job several years ago followed by bouts with serious illnesses, the loss of my home, and several crucial surgeries changed that and now lead to me to ask for your help. As a youngster I used to hear the elderly in church thank the Lord for their “portion of health and strength.” I think I now have some understanding of what they meant – and I, too, am thanking Him for my "portion of health and strength," which I'm trusting will allow me to work again if I must, enable me to resume the joy of giving, and let me not be a financial burden to anyone. (By the way, the purple rose is in commemoration of my youngest brother who passed years before the passing of my beloved mom, the lady with the hair bun and the big smile, who generously poured her life into us and many others.)
