Cameroon Catalyst Charity Trip

Hi there people,

Firstly thanks for taking the time to click on this link and showing interest in this amazing project I'm so happy and proud to be a part off.

I will be heading over to Cameroon this summer for my second time assisting the Cameroon Catalyst team with a new exciting project where we will be digging 2 wells in 2 different villages in the extremely rural eastern part of the country, providing safe drinking water for their communities.

The Eastern province where this small charity works is one of the most impoverished of the country, Chronic poverty in Cameroon stands at 26%, and only less than half of the rural population have access to clean water, this has been made even more serious due to the mass influx of refugees increasing the pressure on water resources in the area.

Our collective mission is to be the catalyst for sustainable change in rural Cameroon we aim to achieve this by building infrastructure projects which empower local communities, and give them the tools to develop and grow long beyond our projects. We design projects which are driven by economic, environmental and social sustainability. We seek solutions which empower local communities and remove the need for future support from the charity.

Cameroon Catalyst Previous projects:

_Between 2009 and 2014, the charity focused on issues within the village of Bambouti.

_Medical Hospital built in Bambouti reduced infant mortality by 90%

_School Built in Bambouti increased school pass rates by 75%

_Mechanical Workshop along the main road where Bambouti sits to provide business for the village.

_Solar electrification hub built to provide electricity 24/7 to the hospital as well as providing charging centres for home torches and phones.

_Sustainable housing where we built 2 homes for the nurses and their families, teaching a new form of durable construction to the locals all whilst using traditional materials.

As well as this I have my personal project in mind where I am wanting to hold fun acting as well as arts & crafts workshops for the kids in the villages to offer them a much needed creative distraction from their daily struggle of poverty. This will involve simple drama games and improvisation techniques in French, as well as bringing lots of different objects, fabrics, papers, paints, glitter(...) from home and incorporate materials and objects from they're surroundings to create a really special moment as well as some beautiful pieces for them to share with their families and hopefully some for me to bring back home and share with some of you.

Would really appreciate a donation. You can easily change the lives of so many people. We all love and take for granted our mostly useless luxuries, but sometimes (most times) our money can be spent on having a better more positive impact in this world.
