I am a 22 year old International Table Tennis player who has represented Scotland at World and European championship events. I am a bronze medalist in the Six Nations singles event and have various under 18 national titles and represented Scotland all over the world. I have been playing since 9 and have given everything I can towards the sport and with the help of my family, I moved to Sweden for 2 years and played professionally for the number one Swedish Club Eslov. I am very passionate about the sport and I am currently training very hard in Edinburgh with the Scottish mens team. Also, I get equipment and clothing from a Swedish sponsor Stiga. This sponsorship doesn't give funding, just equipment, however, I must be competing at a high level in order to maintain the companies support.
However, following SportScotland's withdrawal of support of Table Tennis in Scotland I now rely entirely on private funding to train and compete at an international level, allowing me to improve my World ranking. As a student at Edinburgh University this is particularly difficult and as a result I need to raise funds to cover the costs of training, and competitions for the coming year. These include World tour events, British Grand Prix Events, as well as the opportunity for selection to compete in World and Commonwealth Championships in the 2015/16 Season.
Short term, I want to get into the Commonwealth Championships team in December but the main goal is to be selected for the 2018 Commonwealth Games. I have started this campaign to ensure I can achieve my goals and with funds can give myself the best opportunity to compete at the necessary level, improving my game and improving my World and British ranking.
