Built ECO sustainable village in Shumnatitsa Rhodope village

We are a small team of three people building a heaven in the mountains of Bulgaria.

We started 5 years ago with my brother to restore our old family house in the village of Shumnatitsa in the South Bulgarian border. We started with our own funds and put every cent, sweat and tear in this project. As there are difficulties such as normal internet connection, constant water and electricity supply, bad road conditions etc. we need to perform some general rehabilitation actions, which will do good for all the village population.

The Final target is a Welcoming Eco Sustainable Holiday Villa and strengthening the society relations in the village of Shumnatitsa with various green projects in the area while also increasing the usage of renewable natural resources and energy consumption reduction.

We made the furniture out of recycled wood and old furniture, we create everything with our own hands - from the first sod until the end.

•WHO are you?– We are two siblings (29 and 30y.o) Valeriy and Vladislava from Bulgaria The main star here is my brother, he works fully devoted on our project: as a construction worker, art master, carpenter, welder, paving specialist and any other activities that we may need for the project he masters them extremely quickly and applies them successfully. He had learned the basics of the construction as a profession from my father. My father has retired last year and came back to join us in this project.So we don’t use construction crews and masters as they cost money, WE DO IT BY OUR SELVES!

•WHAT problem you want to solve?- electricity, water shortages; riverbeds are clogged..We want to raise the local culture&tourism as it is poor there are many landmarks; There are no children, fitness playgrounds, no sufficient resting areas; The forest trails not maintained; We have collected all the books from the local library which was destroyed and we plan to build our own library in the eco villa complex, also an ethnic inventions museum; We have to regularly strengthen the landslides and eroded parts of the forest along the road to the villa zone as the roads gets closed during rains

• WHY do you need that amount of funds? – We want to help develop projects for the increase of the use of the renewable resources and we want to develop the touristic potential of the area.
