Build on Albany High school chapter Nepal

 Hi everyone, 

I am excited to announce that I have joined a team of dedicated individuals that make up buildOn’s Albany High School Chapter. In case you are not familiar with buildOn (www.buildon.org), it is an international non profit that builds elementary schools around the world and provides service learning opportunities to students and educators. Our Chapter’s mission is to make a tangible difference in the world by partnering with buildOn to construct a school in Nepal.

The need for educational opportunities in the developing world is clear!  There are over 90 million children that do not have access to basic primary education. That is one in every six children on the planet! As a result, 1.2 billion people in the world are illiterate and live in poverty. These statistics represent real human beings that can be helped by basic education - the most powerful tool in the ?ght against poverty.

I have decided to try to combat these statistics by teaming up with buidOn’s Albany High School Chapter. In April, our team and will be traveling to a village in Dhangadi for one week to live with host families and volunteer alongside the villagers to build their first school!  Not only will this initiative change the lives of children and adults in Malawi, I’m sure it will make a significant impact in my life as well. 

My team has committed to raise the necessary funds to pay for the school’s construction costs 36,000 and our personal travel expenses 4,000. This is an ambitious goal and we can’t do it alone!  We need your help to break the crippling cycle of poverty, illiteracy and low expectations! 

How you can help:  Your contribution will directly fund the construction of schools by paying for building materials and our travel expenses. Your tax-deductible donation will make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and adults all over the world. I’m personally attempting to raise 5000 to cover a portion of the school building costs and my travel expenses by April 10 th , 2013
