Campaign Story
A Rehobeth High School senior is getting the opportunity of a lifetime. Bryce McKee is a Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC) student and has been invited to the 2017 Presidential Inauguration.
"He [McKee] is our top shooter, top orienteer, top driller, he's on the color guard- he does everything,” said his teacher and Gunnery Sergeant Ronald Morgan. “He’s the total marine concept as we say in the marine corps."
This past October, Gunny Morgan gave the 17-year-old the opportunity to go to Washington D.C. for a National Youth Leader Summit, where he was the only student to represent the state of Alabama, as well as area 8 of the NJROTC.
"It was very, very intense,” said McKee, the senior at Rehobeth. “Being by myself in a place I had never been to… it was kind of scary."
Close to 500 students from around the country came to the summit. McKee was nominated to be the president of the group, which took part in a mock world war crisis. They even got to meet President Barack Obama.
