Bringing dance programmings to the SEA region

Creatives Inspirit turns 1 and for our birthday we would like to give back to the community in our own way. While we have many projects that serve the community, for our birthday we chose the one that has the most financial expenditure but perhaps the biggest impact in terms of sustainability and reach.

For the past 3 years, we have been running training programs for individuals in underdeveloped villages in Battambang, Cambodia. These training programs include teaching them how to be choreographers, dance instructors and even teaches skills for these individuals to become creative changemakers in their own community. The intention for this project was simple: we have always believed that an arts education is necessary for communities to thrive and I wanted to work with the youths to nurture a community of socially responsible thinkers, artists and creators. We wanted to teach and impart the skills of creation through the medium of fitness and dance in hope that these skills will transcend beyond the arts and be utilised in critical thinking and problem solving for issues in the community. The past 3 years spent growing this programming with the community has been the most fulfilling to say the least. In 2017, the program got discovered by Move to Empower, a non-profit organization recognised by the United Nations and also sponsored by Zumba Home Office.

This year, it is our goal to expand the programming in the SouthEast Asian region, bringing it to more underdeveloped communities, empowering more creative changemakers in the region. Hence, we are looking to raise any extra funds along with our own funding to support this process of

• Establishing networks and building our research with individuals who already run similar missions such as our partners, Move to Empower with their mission in Kenya

• Establishing educational programs being offered for the identified communites in the SouthEast Asian Region beyond Battambang, Cambodia. Program includes Zumba Fitness and Zumba Kids/Zumba Kids Jr. and train-the-trainer programs to develop instructors and choreographers;

• Funds to sustain these programs as well as for the building of new infrastructure and renovation of current infrastructure so that the community will have places to continue to pursue their education initiatives.
