A couple weeks ago Jonathan received a letter from the London embassy with a list of documents to gather and a request to schedule his medical exam.  He has his medical scheduled for January 31st.  We are waiting to hear the official date of the interview!

about 3 weeks ago we received notice that the petition was approved and our case is being forwarded to London! That is much earlier than expected and we are now considering a potential may wedding instead of September. We are currently waiting for jonathan to receive notice from the embassy to schedule an appointment.

As of October 3rd, 2013 Jonathan and I are officially engaged!! He proposed to me while I visited in England in the Malvern Hills.  It was beautiful and wonderful.  Now to save up frequent fly  miles again...cause there ain't any left!!

Jonathan and I met online on January 6th, 2013.  Over the months as we have gotten to know each other our love has grown and we are now trying to plan a wedding.  Here is the snag...Imagine trying to plan a wedding when you don't actually know when the groom will be aloud to show up!

Jonathan is British and resides in Birmingham England.  I myself, live in Columbia, SC.  Long seperations between visits have been difficult to say the least and we are looking forward to the day when we will be in the same country, even the same continent!

Skype has become our best friend.  It is amazing what technology has permitted.  We have spent hours talking on video to each other, poor Jonathan staying up until the middle of the night due to the time difference! We have had to be extra creative to keep things interesting, among other things, I have skyped him in to part of a baseball game and soccer (or football) game here on my phone.  We also watched a live online concert together, in which we were on skype watching the concert at the same time, we even got all dressed up for each other.  It was pretty awesome! I was even able to bring him in on skype to my grandmothers funeral a short while ago.

Jonathan is a professional trombonist and plays severals instruments.  I work at a social service agency.  Jonathan particularly loves Jazz and Big Band music which turns out well since I am a Lindy Hopper! In fact he doesn't think so, but he dances pretty well too!

The Purpose of this Site

In order for Jonathan to come to the US and for us to be married we must navigated a twisted immigation process.  It varies depending on how you go about it but all roads lead to much paperwork, documentation and $$.  We have found a lawyer to help us navigate the rat race and make sure we find the end of the maze without running into major setbacks, however application and legal fees all cost money.  Both Jonathan and I have been trying to save money for the wedding and also for the months following when he will be waiting to receive permission to work in this country.  On top of all this we need to find money for the immigration process.  Without that, there can be no wedding at all!

What we need

All together we need $6500.  This amount covers all immigration applications, visas, biometrics, and legal costs associated with the fiancee visa as well as his application for change of status and green card immediately after we tie the knot. Also included is enough to cover a one way ticket to the US when the time comes!  Last minute tickets are quite pricey!!

What we will do with extra

If we are incredibly blessed and this site brings in more than our goal amount we plan to use this money towards future steps in the immigration process.  The above mentionned is only the start of a long process in the future! They definetly put you through the wringer!

Before ending, both Jonathan and I would like to thank you for taking the time to read our story and sharing it with your friends.  If you are able to help and donate, any amount will help!  Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Jonathan and Sarah
