Boi Boi – Emergency Recovery Fund

BoiBoi is the "Heart & Soul" of our Puerto Viejo community. Everyone knows and loves her. She brings smiles with her kindness, joy to your ears with her beautiful songs, and gets you dancing with her in the street. We love hearing her version of "Stand by Me" and her "Coconut Bread" song. When you hear someone shouting "Boi Boi Boi Boi Boi," you know she is nearby.

BoiBoi has had an infection in her digestive system for almost a month. This made her feel sick every time she tried to eat food. After a couple of weeks, she had lost lots of weight and was hardly eating at all. She also became very weak. BoiBoi is diabetic, so when her blood sugar level gets too low, it can be extremely dangerous. On Friday, Nov 27, BoiBoi had to be rushed by ambulance to the Hospital Tony Facio Castro in Limon, after she collapsed and went into a diabetic coma. We almost lost her that night! Hundreds of people's prayers and sending positive loving energy, helped give BoiBoi the strength to stay with us.

Now BoiBoi is fighting to get stronger every day. The infection has spread from her digestive system into her bloodstream. This is also very dangerous. She will need to remain in the hospital until she clears the infection, gains strength, and is able to eat food again.This could be as much as another month.

BoiBoi makes only a little money making and selling bread, and she does not have any savings, so she will need some financial help when she returns home. She will need to rest at home for a few months or more, before she can return to selling bread. Your donations are deeply appreciated to help get BoiBoi back to her joyful, soulful, dancing, singing, life-loving "Boi Boi Boi Boi" that we cherish so much!

BoiBoi's relative, Marie, has been by her side at the hospital every day. Marie needs to stay at a hotel in Limon, so she can be close to the hospital. Part of the donations will help with Marie's hotel, food, and bus expenses while BoiBoi is in the hospital.

Every year, BoiBoi collects donations for a fund to buy a bunch of Christmas toys for children in Puerto Viejo. She carries a donation bucket around with her when she sells bread and collects alot of money for the children. Now BoiBoi needs OUR help! Please donate whatever you can.
