Drought

Terrible in any language, any country

The South African farmers in the Karoo, Namaqualand, Kalahari, Bushmanland face a haunting picture every day. In the worst drought of decades, lasting more than six years in some areas, these courageous men are losing all hope.

Not only domesticated animals and livestock suffer, but even the wild animals - sable, springbuck, tortoises, buffalo.

Boere Droogtehulp SA (roughly translates to Farmers Drought Aid in SA) is a nonprofit organisation which depends entirely on donations of fodder, hay bales, transport, diesel and all other commodities needed to help these farmers to try and keep a small remainder of their flock going.

Some would argue that the farmers should have sold everything. Some would feel that the farmers should buy their own food for livestock. Matter of fact is that you can only feed for maybe two or three years, then all reserves, all savings are depleted. That is where some of these people are right now.

For some it is hopelessly too late...

Please, please help us to help these people.

Please help us to feed these animals. Some of them are holding on for dear life.

Each and every donation is highly appreciated.

All funds will go for diesel and expenses to deliver, as up to now all hay, fodder and bales were donated by other farmers who can still help. Transport companies gave their trucks and trailers - only the drivers need to be paid, and toll fees too.

Fodder must be transported some 1000 km from place of donation to place needed.
