Makwe Secondary School (A.M.E. Church) Upgrade

Introduction

Makwe Secondary School is an AME Church ran Community Secondary School Located 34km West of Gwanda Town. The School Currently has 2 Classrom Blocks which house only 4 Classrooms for the nearly 200 leaners in the School.

Challenge 1: The Few Classrooms mean Overcrowding is a challenge worsened by the Covid 19 Requirements for Social Distancing. The Requirements Effectively mean the school needs more Classroom Blocks. This is already in progress as the school has already managed to raise through well wishers materials for at least 1 more block and repair of the leaking roof which is also a major challenge. The Materials are However still not enough to complete the Job and More Materials are still needed.

Challenge 2 : The School Currently relies on water sourced from 2km Away , It is the Intention of this campaign to Drill a solar Equiped borehole at the School grounds to provide the school with safe and clean running water

Challenge 3 : The Third and peharps most pressing challenge is teacher accommodation. The School is experiencing a high teacher turn over due to the deploarable living conditions for teachers at the school.This has negatively impacted the pass rate at the school as some teachers dont even last a term. It is Our Intension to stop this staff migration by constructing a 5 unit Block for teacher Accomodation

Challenge 4 : Last but not least We Want to connect the School to electricity this would bring the School to the 21st Century and enable the school to teach computers , and other practical subjects like metal work. The Main Electricity Grid is about 300 meters away and would require about 4 Poles to reach the School .Rural Electrification Agency REA Will Provide this Service once we purchase the required Poles and Cabling.
