Katie got discharged from her hospitalization today. She was very excited to come back and would not stop licking my lips when we were on the way back home. Katie has to wear a cone for 2 weeks to prevent her from injuring her face with her paws. The doctor also mentioned that her stiches on the left side of her face will dissolve in due time. Katie devoured a kiwi and has been lapping water. She appears to be tired and has been resting on her cushion. We believe that Katie will make a speedy recovery and will take more care with regards to her safety. I am very grateful to everyone who has helped in any way and am glad to know that Katie has many friends. Thank you everyone for your support :)
I just got off the phone with the veterinary surgeon and was informed that the surgery went well. They have inserted a wire into her jaw to stabilize her mouth. None of Katie's teeth were affected in her accident with the bicycle and they are all in good condition. Its going to be about 6-8 weeks of a recovery period where we will monitor the wiring inserted closely. Signs point to Katie making a speedy recovery and she will be wearing a cone around her head during this period. Thank you everyone for helping out in any way that you did, it really means a lot to us!
We paid a deposit for the cost of the surgery and hospitalization fee earlier today. After her surgery, there are additional costs relating to the removal of her jaw wire, plating as well as veterinary consultation. The funds raised from this campaign and from any offline donations were used to pay for the surgery today and will be used for future consultations as well. I am indebted to everyone that has helped in any way possible for you have helped saved Katie.
