So, here I am, April 12th, driving to Nashville from Atlanta and it's my Soul Mate Bill Spalthoff's 55th birthday. He was exploring Africa, currently staying in Livingstone Zambia, his 50th country, and the plan was to meet in Kenya in June for our 10th anniversary and my birthday. I pull over to make the family birthday call- we had scheduled his mother and two brothers and I to sing "Happy Birthday" in the worst chorus ever, a family tradition.

Instead of reaching him, I received a call back from the US Embassy. "I'm sorry to inform you that your husband passed away last night in his sleep." That was the worst day of my life.

I flew to Zambia and spent 2 weeks there meeting many people that Bill had spent the last 3 weeks with, while his brothers handled the details to bring him home. Some people that didn't even know Bill became my friends; the Detective that assisted us and a concerned passenger on the plane flying there that befriended me.

We found out later that Bill had a fatal stroke, and at least he had died peacefully.

Words could never express the overwhelming loss of losing a brilliant light such as Bill. Those of you who knew him know what I mean!

This request is to assist with start up funding for our nonprofit Let's Make the Difference, the nonprofit we dreamed of for 8 years. The Mission and Purpose of the Fund is to provide sustainable giving for projects that support small, local charitable organizations in emerging economies that provide food, shelter, or education for empowering disadvantaged populations, in keeping with Bill Spalthoff's passion that together- we all can make a difference.

The papers have been approved by the state of Tennessee, and it is now a 501(c)(3) pending.

The first project is LEADERSHIP EDUCATION. We are sending 10 people from Livingstone, Zambia to Cape Town, South Africa September 27- Oct 1 for a transformational seminar called The Landmark Forum.

Charities selected to date are: Youth Community Training Centre in Livingstone, Zambia, Samba Land, and Los Ninos La Sagrada Familia, a safe haven for children in Peru.

I promise integrity, transparency and good stewardship. Thank you.
