UPDATE 12/15: Per Jessa, Dash went into surgery at 1am, and he isn't yet out of the woods. According to the vet, his prognosis isn’t good. They’re not even sure what he ate-some sort of unidentifiable plastic. It tore up his intestines and in the next 12-36 hours we will know if his intensities will mend and work for him again. His small intestine in particular is pretty torn up right now. Jessa and company planned to visit around 3pm with some chicken, rice, and steamed carrots.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

On 12/12, Jessa's day began with her 7-yr old Cardigan Welsh Corgi, Dash, vomiting everywhere. Things went downhill until he was having issues on both ends. He seemed to be on the mend by the next morning, but by 12/14 was only eating or drinking if syringe-fed. Jessa was able to get some water & chicken broth in him, but he was very listless. The evening of the 14th, he vomited up poop. Jessa rushed him to the emergency vet & they discovered he had an obstruction that required surgery to fix, at a cost of $2500.

Dash is a goofy, friendly dog with a bit of a shy streak who loooooves his mama & wants to be by her constantly. Corgis have been known to live up to 20 years if well taken care of, and Jessa takes excellent care of Dash. At only 7 years old, he's got a lot of love and snuggles left in him.

Jessa, Jeff, and their 4 kids just moved to the outskirts of Madison, WI in November to follow their dream of managing a 10-acre farm & bringing the farmhouse back to life. They currently care for chickens & heritage turkeys, as well as Dash & their cat, Monster. As the move was so recent, they are still recovering financially, especially since the move necessitated a change in jobs. Jessa will not receive the first paycheck from her new job until January, and $2500 is an extremely unexpected expense.

Anyone who knows Jessa & Jeff knows they are animal lovers & people who are willing to lend a hand whenever necessary. Jessa has owned dogs, cats, chickens, and various other 'critters' throughout her life & has stepped in to foster animals in need more than once, rather than see them suffer. She puts their needs before her own constantly. Jeff can build anything & is always happy to help where he can. The kids have all been great with helping out around the farm as they adjust to their new life.

If you can help them out in any way, even just by sharing, I know they will be extremely grateful.

Happy Holidays & love to all,

Auntie Jen

I am so excited to report that Dash poo'd this morning. He also ate an ENTIRE scrambled egg for breakfast, some chicken and rice for lunch, and another half a scrambled egg for a late afternoon snack. :D

Sunday 16 December - Dash is Home!

Update posted by Jessa Lane at 08:51 pm

Dash is home you guys! He's in his crate, and he had some chicken when he got back. He's definitely still in need of the pain medication and antibiotics they sent him home with, and he's just been sleeping a lot, and lifting his head up for cuddles when he. . . . .

Saturday 15 December - day after the operation.

Update posted by Jessa Lane at 02:16 am

Thank you SO MUCH everyone. We're getting there. He may be able to come home tomorrow--they've determined he needs to stay another night. He's pretty beat up--his small intestine has been scratched severely and the vet is fearful that it may not return to normal function. If that happens, then
