My names Robyn, i have a 3 almost 4 year old cat named pickles. She's my best friend, pickles has gotten me through so many tough times and i really don't know what i would do if i lost her. I have a dog and guinea pigs as well who would be heartbroken if they lost their friend. A few days ago pickles woke up in the middle of the night and gave a very worried "meow". I didn't think much of it till the next morning my mom woke up to a terrible scream coming from pickles and followed by her peeing on my moms bed. She had 5 episodes like that through the day and at 4:00 we took her to the vet. The vet did x-rays and a urine analysis and came to the conclusion it was just a general pain from peeing and put her on buprenorphine. The next morning pickles had her second dose of the medication at around 8:30 am and at 12:30pm pickles started foaming at the mouth. Of course i freaked out and thought she 100% had rabies and i didn't care i needed to comfort her, long story short she does not have rabies. Every 2 ish hours pickles would start foaming at the mouth and during those periods she would get very wide eyes and scared. I had called the vet and she said to see if anything else happens and she may be reacting to the "bitter taste". At 7:30 pickles had a seizure. I was petting her and she started to foam at the mouth and i stayed with her to comfort her after the foaming stopped and it didn't stop, but she started to run around and scream and she ran into a wall and fell onto the ground and started seizing. Her arms and legs were stiff and she was shaking and she was not awake. It lasted about 40 seconds and we went to the animal emergency right away. She was panting the whole ride there and when we did get there the nurses rushed her back very quickly. Pickles is currently at another hospital undergoing very expensive tests. So far in 2 days my parents have had to spend $6000. She is about to go into a MRI and they want to get fluid from her spine and do a CT scan. As you can imagine these are very expensive and for me being a student and coming from a family with 2 siblings in university, my parents aren't too happy about the costs. They will do and spend anything to keep pickles alive, but i know that this is going to affect my parents in the long run. Pickles could have an infection, epilepsy, or brain cancer. None of which is going to be easy news to hear. Epilepsy in cats is rare but it is manageable, she could be put on meds for her life but again that would cost a lot and i wouldn't be able to work in time to help her, or work enough to pay for this all. I really do appreciate any and all support. Thanks everyone!
