Heidelberg Local Community Currency

This campaign aims to raise funds to print the initial currency batches to start the Heidelberg Local Community Currency campaign.

Heidelberg Western Cape is a small agricultural based community without any major industry or economic activities. The Community Currency project is aimed at allowing low skilled and unemployed people to produce and sell local products for the tourism trade and spend that income in the local community.

This will allow the local community to have a higher economic turnover as money earned locally is also spent locally, creating more local job opportunities and manufacturing opportunities for poor and unskilled people and unemployed youth.

For every 1 denomination in local currency, a 1 denomination in Country Currency will be deposited in a bank account to back the local currency and provide it value. Local businesses will increase the amount of local currency in circulation, by giving discounts to local users in the form of local currency.

The local internet Café and computer business will allow residents to purchase Electricity from the Municipality using local currency and the local Travel and Tourism business will promote the sale of local currency to tourists to generate a pool of funds to re-produce additional batches of currency notes.

Local manufacturing, taking payments in local currency will be boosted as a source of currency to purchase locally only will allow new manufacturing and business opportunities to be explored.
