I am raising money to fund a trip to Cambodia in June. As a part of a team, I will be working with organisations in Pnom Penh that are combatting human trafficking and exploitation, as well as child poverty (see links to organisations below). Cambodia is a country that has been ravaged by genocide, poverty and injustice and is in great need of outside help. Women and children are sold into slavery and sexual exploitation, and Westerners go over and fuel sex tourism. Our team is joining in the fight against both of these things. The trip will last for two weeks and the target sum of £700 excludes flights, which have (thankfully) already been paid for by previous donations. However, I still need to pay for my visa, travel insurance, accommodation, food and transport. I would also love to take some money as a gift for the people working out there already; even £10 can go a long way in Cambodia.
How am I raising the money? I've ditched the shoes and socks and I'm walking everywhere barefoot for a month! If you live in the Causeway Coast area and spot a bearded man with no shoes on, that's probably me. So please help me to raise awareness and money for this worthy cause. Thank you!

Fundraising over!
Update posted by Philip Burns at 02:04 pmBarefoot update:6 days til Cambodia. BAREFOOTING OFFICIALLY OVER!!! With just under a week to go, June brings the option (yes, the mere option) of choosing shoes over bare soles. But I have fallen in love with barefooting so the hobbit lifestyle may just stick for good.A massive thank you to. . . . .
Two days left!
Update posted by Philip Burns at 05:11 amBarefoot update: 9 days til Cambodia. My penultimate day of barefooting and I must confess, I have been wearing footwear for certain sporting occasions. Yesterday's surf outing warranted a pair of neoprene boots... hey, what? The sea is still freezing despite the glorious sunshine! Gimme a break! Thoroughly looking forward. . . . .
3 days left!
Update posted by Philip Burns at 12:23 pmBarefoot update:11 days til Cambodia... And three days until I officially put shoes back on! What should I do to celebrate? Paint my feet with Cambodia flags? Get everyone to join me for a day of barefooting? Throw some suggestions at me, people! Here's a video at the Agape Training Centre, one
'Nefarious' documentary
Update posted by Philip Burns at 05:16 amBarefoot update:19 days til Cambodia. The man-flu has subsided and the barefooting has been resumed, huzzah! People have been incredibly generous in their donations so far, both online and in person. Our team busked and sold lemonade on Portstewart Promenade yesterday evening, raising more money that we can give to. . . . .

The Influenza!
Update posted by Philip Burns at 08:35 amBarefoot update:26 days til Cambodia. After standing for an hour at a silent vigil against human traffiking in Northern Ireland, I've been struck with the dreaded INFLUENZA (*gasps*). Now I'm nursing a chesty cough and a fever. It seems that barefooters ought to be made of sturdier stuff than this...
Barefoot through hail...!
Update posted by Philip Burns at 09:14 amI'm completely barefoot now for a whole month until Saturday 1st June, one week before the team leaves for Cambodia. I tactically chose May as the month because of the (usually) more pleasant weather; having occasionally barefooted back in January in the snow, this was a decision made from experience.. . . . .

You're doing a grand job! Barefooting isn't always easy but it is always worthwhile, especially when done in support of a good cause! Good lad yourself!
