Snack time

Update posted by Karla Danali Martinez Cabrera

One of the wonderful things about Nepal is that they have a enormous variety of fruits, legumes, vegetables, food in general...incredibly delicious food! At pre-school the children generally have around 11.20 am lunch which consists always with rice and some veggies and/or beans/lentils and later on around 2pm a snack. I noticed that they don't eat any fruit, I dont know if it's cultural thing, or currently there are not many seasonal fruits, or the easiest thing to do is to give them rice so for this last one I wanted to participate and contribute. So on Monday i went to get apples (or course with the previous permission of the school's principal), red, huge, crunchy sweet apples...and as an extra i gave them a cookie (stroopwaffels all the way from The Netherlands). They were soooo happy! You'd think it was the cookie, Noooo!!! They were asking for more apples, it was just amazing seeing them eating and having fun. So after the apple succes I asked if it's possible to bring snacks again and they said yesss! I think next time it will be bananas...no more cookies hahaha that was an extra from my side.
