Post surgery update

Update posted by Kevin Woo

Hey everyone, this will be the detailed break down and update on Felix’s condition post operations, as well as the findings of the blood test. So Felix is doing well so far, he’s eating, drinking and using the litter box normally (thank goodness 🙏🏻) a little less active than his normal self but I’m guessing it’s from all the pain and stress. I have to thank Dr Sunah of Star Veterinary clinic and the staff for taking such good care of Felix! Felix was given a long lasting antibiotic inject that’ll last him 7 days as well as anti inflammatory injection and some fluids post-op for hydration. They have amputated most of his tail as keeping it would do more harm than good in the future, although I’m so sad to see his beautiful tail go, it was for the better! Felix baby is not left with a cute little nub that Dr Sunah has stitched up with an absorbable suture. That’s pretty much it for everything on the surface and now the medical and internal stuff! My notes from last night are as follows:

“White blood cells low could be due to being scared and shaken up

Red blood cells low

Platelets low but could be due to clumping because of difficult blood extraction

L is for liver functions, it’s all low and that’s good

AMY & TBIL is pancreas and GI, it’s off but must observe and see if could be FELV/FIV observation of behavior and further testing is required to determine the status of condition(s)

K is for kidney functions, it’s showing early signs of problem and it’s common with felines especially with age. Take note of CREA levels. There’s no cure but prolonging the longevity of cat by diet control and hydration monitoring are the best options

GLUcose levels are high due to stress

HILLS C/D diet is recommended for urinary care

HILLS K/D or Royal Canin Renal for protein control for kidney functions care”

(Please refer to the test results below)

Dr Sunah has advised on trying a better diet for Felix as he’s showing signs of early kidney functioning problems (very common in felines) it cannot be cured but all we can do it try to make him as healthy as possible and just delay the deterioration. I’m greatly saddened by this news, yes, he’s had bladder problems previously but hearing it again from a vet just breaks my heart one more time. I will definitely take care of Felix and provide for him the best I could! As a parent, I am not giving up and I will never, I will fight with him! 💪🏻

As for the total bill for the surgery, it was $1,480.10. So as I updated earlier that I have paid a $1000-/ deposit when I dropped Felix off at the clinic in the afternoon and the balance amount to be paid when I picked him up was $480.10 (just refer to the official receipt below!)

Last but not least! THANK YOU! I’m so humbled and heartened by everyone around me and people around you too! It’s so incredibly moving to see how everyone stepped forward and reached out when we needed it the most, I might sound like a broken record but I really cannot thank everyone enough for your contributions and for your efforts, care and concern that’s extended to us. I’m actually speechless and I don’t know what else to say but thank you, Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I’d love to come give all of you a hug if I could and also, please come visit Felix anytime if you would like! We wouldn’t be here today without all of you! :’) ❤️

P.S donor’s list update will come next and very soon as well! We’ve decided to hold on to the money from this fund raising page for just a little while, until we could ride over and in case something goes wrong. When all is well we will update you guys again and of course get you all to maybe vote for an animal shelter that we could donate the balance amount to! 😊
