“PARENTING MATTERS”, follow up parenting seminar on Behavior Management, Sensory Integration and Active Play

Update posted by Lito Santos

As a follow-up to “PARENTING MATTERS”, our first parenting seminar on Behavior Management, Sensory Integration and Active Play last April, Movement Matters Therapy Center will now be holding "I-Care and I-Can", a series of training workshops for caregivers of children with developmental concerns and delays. These workshops aim to empower caregivers with specific techniques on how they can better handle the unique needs of the children under their care.

*Further, this special project is lovingly dedicated by our staff to the mother of Teacher Clarence Santos, Mommy Candie Santos, who is currently battling Stage IV Breast Cancer and undergoing chemotherapy sessions. All proceeds from the workshop fees will be added to her treatment fund.

Module 1: “Bakit Kaya ang 'Kulit' ng Alaga Ko?”

In this workshop, caregivers will learn the cause of maladaptive behaviors commonly observed in kids with special needs and will get to practice some Behavior Modification Techniques (BMTs) that they can use to help address these behaviors. As a bonus, our OT lecturers will explain what Occupational Therapy is and how this helps kids with their development.

Module 2: “Paano ba Makipaglaro at Makipag-usap sa Alaga Ko?”

In this workshop, caregivers will learn the different levels of play and the benefits of play in the development of children, more specifically, in facilitating speech and communication. Likewise, our ST lecturers will discuss what Speech Therapy is and why kids with speech &/or language delay need this to be able to catch up with peers their age.

Therapist-facilitators will be using layman’s terms and the Filipino language. There will be sample case discussions, question & answer, exercises and role-playing activities so that the caregivers will easily understand the topics and be able to actually apply the techniques when they get home.

All workshops will be held at Movement Matters Therapy Center. Workshop materials & snacks will be provided.
