Heartfelt Gratitude for the Help in Bringing Mama Josie Home

Update posted by Marjorie Louise Enguero

It has been exactly one (1) month since Mama Josie was brought back home and reunited with her family.

On March 5th this year, she was warmly received in the arms of her family and was confined in the hospital for a week to rest after the long trip from Rome, Italy. The doctors ensured, after several medical tests, that she was well and safe to continue to heal and recover at home.

Mama Josie's family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to everyone, family and friends, who helped raise funds for her medical repatriation and medical care.

The family is sincerely grateful to everyone who kindly shared their time and efforts:

Firstly, for the care and compassion of the doctors, nurses, caregivers, and individuals/visitors at Azienda Ospedaliera San Camillo-Forlanini. Their kindness and medical care is outstanding and much appreciated.

Secondly, the medical repatriation would not have been possible without the tireless efforts of the women and men at the Philippine Embassy in Rome, Italy and the DFA-Office of the Undersecretary of Migrant Affairs (OUMWA). 2.6Million for the repatriation expenses alone is not very easy to raise, more so, obtain from charitable agencies and foundations. Though Mama Josie's case was challenging in terms of obtaining funding and government support, they managed to obtain the needed funds to facilitate the medical repatriation from Rome to Manila.

Thirdly, we thank the kind nurse who accompanied Mama Josie during the long journey from Rome to Manila and for ensuring her safety and comfort throughout the flight.

Fourthly, it is worthwhile to acknowledge the assistance extended by the Naga City Local Government as well as the Naga City Migrants Resource Center in close coordination with the OWWA Naga Satellite Office, for helping arrange necessary assistance for the family to receive Mama Josie at the Manila Airport. The timely arrangement of an ambulance and nurse is much appreciated.

Lastly, there are still more people and individuals to thank...

- particularly Mama Josie's close friends in Rome who gave their time and care for the past 18 months while she was recovering at the hospital, waiting for the doctors' clearance to travel back home. We are sincerely grateful for your kindness and love for Mama Josie. May God bless you.

- the family members, individuals and groups who, in one way or another, shared their time, talents, resources, and funds through fundraising efforts and events. May you and your family be blessed as well.

- the many individuals (women and men in government, neighbours, friends) who generously and voluntarily contributed donations for Mama Josie and those who visited when she was in the hospital. May God reward your kindness in abundance.

We ask that you continue to pray for Mama Josie's continuous recovery, strength, and healing.

We will be closing this GoGetFunding page soon. It has greatly helped in raising sufficient funds for Mama Josie's medical care. It has also served its purpose for awareness and in reaching out to charitable individuals and friends (from the US, Thailand, Singapore, the Philippines, etc.). May God bless your kind and generous hearts for the help you have extended to Mama Josie and her family.

Yours sincerely,

THE ENGUERO FAMILY
