Chemotherapy has started

Update posted by Nelda Arvesu

Based on the campaign page, we have not reached the amount to pay for the first chemotherapy. But few days before Christmas, the Heed Foundation which also sponsored Rica Mae's scholarship in university offered to pay her first chemo session. Because of this on Dec 29, 2018, Rica Mae started her first chemo. But due to liver complication, the first chemotherapy cannot be done in one day to avoid severe damage on her liver. She had them on the 29th and 31st of Dec 2018 and today, Jan 2, 2019. The second chemo session starts in 28 days. The effects of chemotherapy are already observed. She had fever (but goes down as of this writing), felt nauseous, red eyes but the worrisome is that her vision is now blurry and cannot read. Yesterday, Jan 1, based on the initial eye test, it shows that there are broken blood vessels in her eyes. Because of this, she needs to see a retinal specialist this week. She had another platelet transfusion yesterday. Let's continue praying for her fast recovery and may her body responds to treatment positively with less complications.

By the way, Rica wrote a note to me and as part of it she said, "Thank you sa mga donors ko. Promise, magpapagaling ako." (Thank you to my donors. I promise to get well.")
