The Last Mile of Treatment

Update posted by Joelle Lyn Gavica

Hello everyone! We haven't update in so long because of the holidays but we're happy to share with you that Isay is down to her last cycle of chemo. Her third cycle took longer than expected because the doctor advised to postpone some of her treatment days due to the side-effect she has been experiencing (mostly fatigue and nausea). It proved to be a good decision because she wasn't hospitalized this time for diarrhea and she got to enjoy her birthday and the holiday food spread to the fullest. :D

(Isay on her birthday. She loved the decorations set up for her special day.)

Her fourth cycle won't be until next month since she has to recoup her strength for the last stretch of treatment. Her tumor markers are down to 2 (it was a high 700+ before she started chemo), which is a good sign of recovery. However, her hemoglobin is also very low at this point, and she might need to have a blood transfusion if the iron supplements she's taking do not get her numbers up. Being the upbeat and strong girl that she is, Isay is taking it all in stride.

All of your donations have helped her get to this point and we are so very thankful for your concern, love and generosity. We still have funds to tide her through her last cycle of chemo and this wouldn't be possible without your help.

Please keep her in your thoughts!
