Receipts

Update posted by Sarah Bradbury

I was asked this morning; "How do I know you will use the money for what you say you will use it for?"

This is such a good question and one I am sure many people who have set up a funding page have been asked. In short, you don't although at the same time, you do. What am I going on about?

With some people you don't know they are using it for what they say they are (I've kind of covered this is an update on here a couple of weeks ago where I was talking about social media - it's worth a read if you are thinking of making a donation to anyone - you can also find a longer more in depth description on my blog (click HERE) to find the article I am on about. As with anything it is a risk you take when you agree to hand over your hard earned money.

How will you know I have used it for what I say I will? Because I am more than willing to share each and every receipt with you all - of course I have to raise what I need first!! From the flight bookings, to the car hire, the motels, to spending money (I always use a pre-pay credit card when overseas - that makes it sound as though I am lucky enough to travel often (I'm NOT)). I will share the receipts of how much money has gone onto those cards. You'll be able to see where each and every single penny will be spent. That was my answer to the person who asked and is my answer to anyone who may be thinking of asking - even more so of someone who is itching to donate. I will be as transparent as it is truly possible to be. It's the least I can do if you have (or are going to be) kind enough to help achieve the dream.

My advice to anyone would be/is. "Don't hand over a penny to anyone if they are not willing to share such details with you".
