Hello Dan! Welcome back!

Update posted by Sylvia D.A.

Hello! Thanks for visiting!

Yes, you are reading it right! Dan has been talking. Yesterday evening, Tuesday 10-11, he had a conversation with Sabrina. Sometimes unclear, sometimes struggling, but most important is that Dan is back with us. And even more important, Sabrina has a little bit of her Dan back. How this is possible with severe brain damage on both sides of the brain, nobody knows. The doctors don't quite understand, and we as friends don't understand it at all. But does it matter? No. One thing I read on Facebook, in one of the comments, is about the power of love. And I am pretty sure the love between Dan and Sabrina, the love between all their friends and them is incredibly strong, and I also believe that somehow this is reflecting on Dan. He is receiving all this love and it's helping his brain to heal. Nothing is stronger than love, nothing. So please continue to send your love, your positivity, your prayers, your thoughts. It does help and Dan is the evidence. Miracles do exist.

This also brings me to something else, also very important. We have raised an amazing amount of money, truly amazing. Sabrina has access to this money at all times and it currently helps her in various ways. Bills, childcare, and anything what's needed to financially survive without having a second income.

Sabrina has had a meeting with the Citizen Advise Bureau, to find out what sort of financial help she will be able to receive. To put it simple: nothing. As she is a property owner, the government can't help her. She currently receives tax credits, but these will not increase. Dan will not receive anything until he is out of hospital, which won't be anywhere in the near future. We weren't expecting this and it's come as a bit of a shock. It's all so incredibly unfair.

Dan is currently on the waiting list for rehabilitation, about 20 miles away from Brighton. He will spend around 3 months there and will then be moved to a place somewhere in London. This will increase travel costs. A car is probably needed and a car comes with more costs.

Soon Sabrina has to go back to work as her maternity pay will come to an end, but without Dan's income, she will not be able to pay the mortgage and all the monthly bills. Of course this is where the fundraising money will come in, but this isn't enough. She will need more money to simply pay the bills.

So please, please donate generously. Please help Sabrina financially survive. Worries about money are awful, but worries about your loved one and money, are even worse. We have no control over Dan's recovery, but we could try and take control over their financial situation.

Thank you,

Team Mason
